About us

The charity has been going since 2001 and has worked hard since then to progress and provide the best care through the hard work of all the volunteers. A few of our members today are long standing volunteers who helped start up Wessex Ambulance Service, and one is now our Chairman. Our Charity is organised by four trustees, who are all active members.

Wessex Ambulance Service is a a registered charitable service who rely on the dedication of its volunteers, who give up their own time to provide advanced first aid cover at a large variety of events across the South West. These events include family fun days, boxing, firework displays, karate, judo, music events, carnivals, football and much more, the charity also supports other private ambulance services at large events.  All our volunteers are trained to a high level of life-saving skills and provide a professional and caring service to the public. All our volunteers receive ongoing training weekly throughout the year, to keep their skills up to date.

In the event of an injury or illness occurring, our volunteers’ skills are vital in saving lives and provide essential support until the emergency services arrive. When crowds gather for public events there needs to be a level of first aid cover to ensure the safety of those competing or attending, ensuring the HSE guidelines are met.

In our vehicle fleet, we have two ambulances, one response car, and a first aid post, all are well equipped to the standard of being able to provide essential support until the emergency services arrive.
